When It Rains

Did you ever think about what birds do when it rains?

I mean, for the most part, we humans head indoors. There may be the occasional, and sometimes really necessary, dash to and from the car, but otherwise we generally stay dry inside our house or apartment until it stops dripping outside.

Birds can’t afford to do that…stay in their nests, that is. They need to eat. Some may have food stored away – literally for a rainy day. But most don’t (as far as I know).

So, the upshot of this is that you can still birdwatch from your own cozy “nest” even on a rainy day. It’s supposed to rain here this afternoon, so that’s what I’ll be doing at least some of the time.

Rainy days can actually be pretty good birdwatching days. You get to stay cozy and dry while watching to see what the birds are up to.
