Ah Yes...My Little Chickadee

Are you old enough to know who may have said what’s in the title above?

You don’t have to answer that. 🙂

I know, but only because I’ve heard him say it in a rerun of a movie…or something like that. I didn’t hear it first time ‘round.

Anyway, I brought it up because I was thinking of nicknames - and birds, of course. My nickname these days is Papasonn. A fellow birder and email reader I know is nicknamed Dee (as in Chickadee).

She gave me a great tip about feeding hummingbirds that I’m about to pass on to you. Since refilling hummingbird feeders can be kind of a pain, something that can make it at least a little easier is having multiple feeders on hand.

Let’s say you normally put out one of these feeders in your backyard. If you have a second one as sort of a backup, you can swap that one out for the other one and not have to worry right away about cleaning out the “old” one.

So, you take that old one down, empty it, and set it aside for cleaning later. You fill the “new” one - probably with nectar you already have prepared earlier - and set it out in the yard.

Now, obviously it’s the same amount of work overall, but it just feels easier in the near term, doncha think?
