I saw my first hummingbird (Ruby-throated Hummingbird, of course, since we’re east of the Mississippi) of the season yesterday (May 15)!

I finally decided to move my computer to the dining room table which is near the sliding French doors that give a view to our backyard. And I’m so glad I did.

Just minutes after making the shift and sitting down in front of the keyboard, I happened to look outside and thought I could see something more than the black rubber stopper on the side of one of my hummingbird feeders.

So I picked up my monocular, and, sure nuf, there he was!

That was a few minutes before 10:00. Then at about 10:02, there was another one – or the same one…who knows? – sipping at my other hummer feeder.

He (or they) may not have been the birds shown here, but maybe they’re cousins?
